GPS Tracking
Experimental and not currently supported
GPS tracking and GPS feeds are in early testing. They may change or stop working without notice, and we can't help set them up yet. Don't depend on them during an operation. The web app shows this same warning on every screen that touches GPS feeds.
Where Things Stand
- GPS tracking is designed to run on the RAM mobile app, which is on hold while the core web application is finished. There is no date yet for its return
- GPS feeds are not on by default, and an agency administrator has to set them up
- Because it isn't supported, this guide doesn't walk through setup or day-to-day use
If your agency is testing it, ask your administrator. We'll publish a full guide when the feature is ready for general use.
What to Rely On Instead
For tracking who is doing what, use the parts of RAM that are supported:
- Check-in and check-out to scheduled activities, with mileage, in My Activities
- Sign-in sheets run by organizers, described in Activity Calendar
Privacy
If GPS tracking is ever turned on for you, you'll be asked for your phone's location permission first, and you can refuse it in your phone's settings. Check-in records your location only if you allow it.
