Changelog
What's new and what's changed in Rescue Agency Manager. We follow Semantic Versioning — major.minor.patch with a -beta qualifier while we're in pre-1.0 production.
Each release includes notes for end users and, where relevant, for agency administrators. Historical changes from before this changelog was introduced are not catalogued here.
1.38.0-beta — September 22, 2026
A new look across every part of RAM, a member's own gear, and a digital ID card you can carry in your phone.
Every module has been redrawn
- One page shape, everywhere. Dashboard, your profile, the roster, Agency Settings, Activities, Certifications, Assets, Archives, Audit Logs, Incidents, Rapid Alerts and Maps now share the same layout: a light bar across the top carrying the page's title, search, filters and the counts you can click to filter by, over plain rows whose actions appear as you hover them.
- Fewer pages, more tabs. Activities is one page with Calendar, Activity List and Service Log. Certifications is one page with My Certifications, Team Certifications and Qualifications. Assets replaces the separate Inventory, Compliance and Storage Locations pages. Archives gathers members, certifications, assets and incidents in one place.
- Your columns, your choice. The roster and the asset list let each person pick which columns to show, and remember it.
New
- My Assets — a member's own gear, with photos, costs and the kits they are packed in, alongside the agency assets assigned to them.
- A digital ID card you can add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, with a scannable emergency page for the back of a physical ID.
- Asset Valuation Report (PDF) and a running asset value on the Assets bar.
- Log an activity after the fact. Inside your agency's lookback window, a past activity can be recorded — clearly marked as self-reported.
- Changing your email is confirmed at the new address before it takes effect.
Fixed
- A template that history still needs now explains itself. Removing a certification template used by a record — including a deleted one, which is kept in Archives for your history — tells you exactly what is holding it, and how to clear it where that is possible.
- Cancelling an activity no longer looks like deleting it. A cancelled activity has its own place on the Activity List and stays on the calendar, struck through.
- A recent activity on your dashboard opens that entry.
- The roster fits a laptop screen without scrolling sideways, and the actions for several selected members stay in view as you scroll.
1.36.0-beta — September 13, 2026
Updated terms, a signed record of acceptance, and the incident tools we have been building for search teams.
Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and the Beta Program Agreement
- On your next sign-in you will be asked to read and accept the updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (v1.1). Each document is shown in full; the Accept button unlocks when you reach the end. This is a change from the old "Got it" notice, and it is deliberate: your acceptance now records which version you read, when, and from where.
- Administrators of agencies in the Beta Program are also asked to accept the Beta Program Agreement on the agency's behalf. Members are not — the Terms cover them.
- Agency administrators can see the record under Logs → Legal Acceptances, and export it as CSV.
- What changed in the documents. The Privacy Policy no longer says we keep incident data for seven years. Your records are yours: they are kept while your account is active, and how long they are kept is decided by the retention settings, deletion controls and exports your administrators already have — because retention rules differ by state, agency type and funding source, and only you know which apply. The Terms now say what happens if we ever discontinue the service (90 days' notice and an export window), state the refund rule plainly (fees are not refundable), and make clear that a team that works for a sheriff's office or emergency management office is exactly who a standard subscription is for.
- When an account ends — the subscription lapses or the agency closes it — there are 30 days of export-only access, then the account is archived for up to 90 days, then it is permanently deleted. Export what you must keep during those 30 days.
Subscriptions
- Renewal notices. Billed subscriptions get a confirmation email after purchase and a reminder before each renewal — 30 days before an annual renewal, 7 before a monthly one — stating the plan, the amount, the date, and how to cancel online. The checkout page now asks you to confirm you have read the Terms before paying.
Incident Manager
- Segment briefs on task assignments. Picking a search area from the Ops-Map on a team task brings the area's hazards, access and egress notes, terrain summary and measured size onto the assignment — on screen and on the printed task. Any hazard, boundary or zone marked on the map within 100 m of the segment is called out too.
- PAR checks. Set a personnel-accountability interval for the agency (Agency Settings → Incident Manager → Incident Settings) or override it per incident. Every team in the field shows a countdown; when it is due the pill blinks red and the check is logged with the head count, who took it, and the result. A late check or a short count goes straight to the Attention list.
- Task status as a row of checks — Draft, Assigned, Sent out, Completed, plus Cancelled — locked once a team is out.
- The incident log stands on its own. Every task event is logged as it happens, you can add hand entries, and it prints as a plain Incident Log PDF — so an agency that does not use ICS forms still has the record the ICS-214 would have held.
- Tasks dashboard: expand any row for the assignment, the team and the segment brief without leaving the page; new Start, End, Time on task and Coverage columns; the TASKS badge counts teams out and blinks when a PAR check is overdue; the MEDIA badge counts files.
- Per-incident settings under the incident's SETTINGS tab — PAR interval, operational period length, task colours — with the agency's defaults as the starting point.
- Team task roster: the Role/Specialty field suggests the person's earned qualifications and incident position; Team and Base channels offer the agency's radio channels.
- Task PDF: instruction boxes size to their content and team members print two to a row.
Ops-Map and media
- Photos on a point of interest. Upload photos to a POI with a credit; they appear in the point's card, on the Media page, and in the log.
- From the Media page, jump to the thing — the POI on the map, the subject's Lost Person Questionnaire, or the task.
- The "Save POI" button now reads Save Area when you are drawing an area, and points cannot be dragged unless you are editing them.
Declaring an incident
- Address lookup on the Declare form, and a header that stays put while you scroll — with any error shown in it, so you never miss one below the fold.
1.35.0-beta — September 10, 2026
Inventory that follows what was used, and settings that read as a page.
Assets and inventory
- Using a kit takes what was used out of it. A usage entry on a medical kit draws its contents down, and each item's movement log shows where the stock went.
- A controlled substance's usage log is an audit record — who, what, how much, witnessed by whom.
- Stock is a compliance dimension. Anything below its reorder level is reported alongside inspection and expiry.
- The odometer follows the trip log, so a corrected trip corrects the reading; watercraft engine hours keep their tenths.
- A usage log asks for the meter the asset actually has — odometer, hour meter, or neither.
Agency Settings
- Settings read as a page, not a tab strip. Picking a category opens its own page with a left rail; settings you have not bought are shown locked, and settings you may not change are shown read-only rather than hidden.
1.34.0-beta — September 8, 2026
The asset module, rebuilt.
One shared list of asset types
- Every agency now uses the same ten asset types — Vehicle, Watercraft, Trailer, Life Safety Gear, Rescue Rope, Medical Supply, Medical Equipment, Communication, Tools, Equipment. Until now each agency was given its own private copy of a 117-entry catalogue at signup. Most were never used, and because every copy was separate, the same name could mean different things in different agencies — "Static Rope" tracked rope for three agencies and nothing for a fourth.
- Your assets moved with you. Each one was matched to the shared type that describes it, keeping its ID, its history and its documents. Nothing was re-entered and nothing was lost.
- What a type asks for is decided by what it tracks. Tick that a type keeps a registration, an insurance policy or a calibration record, and the fields and reminders for it appear — everywhere at once, on the edit page, the view page and the import spreadsheet.
Medical
- Medical is now two types, because they are two different things. Medical Supply is the item — a medication with a lot number, a quantity and an expiry. Medical Equipment is the thing that holds items: an ALS bag, a trauma kit, an AED, each with contents that carry their own count, reorder level, expiry and lot.
- Kit contents can record whether an item is a controlled substance, whether it needs a prescription, and the temperature range it must be stored in.
- A minimum quantity on any item turns it into a reorder level, and anything below it is reported.
Rope and rated gear
- Rope is described in one place. It used to appear in two sections that disagreed with each other, and the second one silently discarded everything typed into it — including a Retirement Date it insisted was required.
- Rope Type offers the full list, Polypropylene and Webbing included.
- Fall counters moved to Life-Safety Specs, where they belong: a harness is retired on fall count the same way a rope is.
Measurements in your own units
- A new setting under Agency Settings → Assets → Measurements decides whether your agency reads asset measurements in Imperial or Metric — lengths, weights, fuel capacity and mileage. It changes how numbers are shown and typed, never what is stored, so switching back and forth can never alter a recorded value.
- Rope diameter stays in millimetres and rated strength in kilonewtons in both systems, because that is how rope and rated gear are specified everywhere.
One notification instead of many
- Everything needing attention arrives as a single daily digest — one email and one in-app notification listing every asset, rather than one message per asset per date. A quiet day sends nothing.
- Every line links to the asset it names, so a warning is one click from the thing it is about.
- Anything past its date is listed again every Monday until it is resolved.
- Reminders go out 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before a date and again on the day. The per-dimension timing boxes in settings are gone: they saved a number nothing read, and two of them matched no field at all.
- Digests go to the people on your Asset Notification list, and to agency administrators if that list is empty.
Smaller things you will notice
- Calibration is recorded in Service History alongside inspections and maintenance, instead of in a section of its own.
- Trailer fields — type, axles, brakes, suspension, hitch type and coupler size — are dropdowns rather than free text, so answers can be grouped and reported.
- A vehicle, trailer or watercraft is identified by its VIN or hull number and no longer also asks for a serial number.
- Documents appear on the asset view page, not only when editing; a file can be renamed, and its name is the link that opens it.
- Saving or cancelling an edit returns you to that asset, not to the list.
- An asset's type can be corrected after it is created.
- Asset Template — export a spreadsheet in exactly the layout the importer reads, edit it, and upload it back.
1.31.0-beta — August 31, 2026
Product update emails.
- Release notes can now be emailed, not just posted in the app. Announcements already appeared in your notification dropdown; they can now also arrive in your inbox, as the same message rather than a separately written one.
- You control whether you get them. The "Get updates about new features and announcements" switch in your profile settings is what decides, and every product email carries a one-click unsubscribe. That setting covers product news only — incident alerts, activity notices and account email are separate and are never affected by it.
- Product updates are sent from
updates@news.rescueagencymanager.com, deliberately separate from operational mail, so that newsletter traffic can never affect the deliverability of an incident alert.
1.30.1-beta — August 31, 2026
Two fixes members will notice.
Addresses
- Addresses are no longer marked as unverified simply because the postal city differs from the municipality or township returned by the address provider. This is common in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where an address may use one community name for mail delivery while geographically falling within a differently named township. Both location names can be correct, and RAM now recognizes this.
- This issue affected only the verification badge. Coordinates, mileage calculations, and closest-responder rankings remained accurate.
- If your address still appears as unverified, open your profile and select it again using the address finder. Verification now focuses on the street address and ZIP code and will alert you if either appears incorrect.
Activities
- Ending an activity now tells you why it will not end, and whose it is. Pressing End Activity could appear to do nothing at all: the server was explaining itself — that the edit window had expired, or that the activity belongs to someone else — and the app discarded the explanation, replaced it with a generic failure, and put it at the top of a long page well above the button that was pressed. The real reason is now shown, the page scrolls to it, and where the answer is "it is not yours", it names the owner.
1.30.0-beta — August 30, 2026
A month of work on mapping, mileage and addresses. (Covers the 1.27.0–1.30.0 releases.)
A great deal of the work in these releases went into a dedicated home for incidents — declaring one, a command console, and the full set of ICS forms. It is not available to members yet. It is being released in stages and the first pieces should reach you shortly. Nothing in this section needs any action from you; we will announce it when there is something to open.
Maps
- Every map in RAM now runs on one engine, so a search area, hazard or point of interest you draw in one place behaves the same everywhere else.
- Proper incident symbols — ICS and SAR symbols drawn to the NWCG specification, plus fire hydrants and utilities.
- Weather radar and terrain shading. The radar refreshes, tells you which scan you are looking at, and gets out of the way once it has nothing to say.
- Elevation readings you can trust at a break of slope. Readings now come from USGS lidar rather than a coarse tile. On open ground the old figure was fine; at a canyon rim or a road cut it could be several metres out — which is exactly where someone stops to ask.
- Maps open on the work, not zoomed out to the whole country.
Activities, hours and mileage
- Scheduling is a full page now, with the map at the centre, instead of being squeezed into a dialog. The calendar fits the page it sits on.
- Mileage is measured on real roads — a round trip on the road network, drawn so you can see the route. The distance shown is the distance credited.
- Incident hours count as deployment time.
Your profile and address
- Find your address instead of typing it. Start typing and pick it from the suggestions; a badge then shows whether it checked out. A home address must be complete to count as one.
- A town-level match is no longer reported as a verified address — if the provider found only the town, RAM says so rather than implying the delivery point was checked. PO Boxes are handled as their own case.
Your account
- One browser is one device. Signing in twice from the same browser no longer shows up as two devices on your account.
- Being signed out by the system properly ends the session, and the unsaved-changes countdown only runs while there is still something to save.
Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
- You will be told when they change, in advance for anything material, and RAM records which version of each document you accepted.
- Both documents were rewritten to match the product — including a correction to the children's-privacy section and the removal of a claim about role-based access that overstated what was in place at the time.
For agency administrators
- Incident numbering now uses an explicit prefix per agency, with a guard against changing it mid-year.
- Agency addresses are checked the same way member addresses are.
- Security hardening: database and network access were tightened, and platform components carrying published vulnerabilities were upgraded.
1.26.0-beta — July 27, 2026
The ICS-201 Incident Briefing, rebuilt to the official form.
- The ICS-201 now matches the official 4-page FEMA layout, with the header and footer repeating on every page, hole-punch-safe margins, and your agency name in the header.
- The map is drawn into the PDF, framed the way you framed it on screen, with category symbols, draggable markers, translucent shape fills and outlines drawn on top so overlapping areas stay readable. Radius searches print as real circles.
- Standard forms auto-save, and carry a Document Status and a locked "Prepared by" name showing who actually prepared them.
- A blank FEMA ICS-201 is hosted for reference alongside the form.
1.25.0-beta — July 24, 2026
Earned qualifications, and incident record-keeping after the fact. (Covers the 1.25.0–1.25.2 releases.)
Qualifications
- A new Earned tracking mode for qualifications. Membership is computed from the certification requirement tree rather than assigned by hand, so someone qualifies the moment their certifications say they do.
- Qualifications appear on the incident personnel roster, with a single picker rather than a separate assignment step.
Incidents
- Record and correct incidents after the fact, for the callout nobody had a laptop open for.
- A lifecycle lock — close, reopen, seal and unseal — so a finished record stays finished.
- Qualifications and detail editing on the sign-in sheet.
- Task Map Area is free text with suggestions from existing map areas, instead of forcing a pick from a list.
- Externally checked-in personnel now appear in ICS name fields.
1.24.0-beta — July 21, 2026
A dashboard-accuracy overhaul, storage-location and timezone fixes, and check-in cleanups. (Covers the 1.24.0–1.24.3 releases.)
Dashboard numbers you can trust
- Hour and deployment totals now count every activity, not just the 50 most recent. Service Hours, Training Hours, Deployments and their My Overview counterparts were adding up only the first page of activity logs, so Year-to-Date and Lifetime totals were badly undercounted on active agencies. They now come from a single server-side total.
- "Upcoming Events" now works. The tile was stuck at 0 for everyone; it now shows how many agency events are scheduled in the coming weeks.
- Certification counts corrected. "Active Certs" and the "Expiring (30/90 days)" tiles were inflated — they counted background checks as certifications and included people who had left the agency. They now count only current members' certifications.
- "Service Hours" is now "Total Service Hours", with a tooltip explaining that Training Hours is already included in it (the two tiles are nested, not additive).
- Fractional hours display correctly — "4.43 hours" was being rounded down to "4".
Dates follow your agency's timezone
- Days and months now roll over at midnight in your agency's timezone, not the server's. For a US Eastern agency this fixes certifications dropping out of "Active" four hours early each evening, and activity logged late on the last day of a month counting toward the next month. Set your timezone on the Agency Profile.
Storage Locations moved to the Assets menu
- Storage Locations is now its own page under Assets (facilities → areas → sections → bins) instead of living inside Agency Settings — it is operational data, not configuration. Old links redirect. See Asset Management.
- Renaming a storage location now updates every asset stored there. Assets used to keep showing the old name after a rename.
- New permission split: creating an asset no longer lets a member create storage facilities/areas/bins. Storage Locations has its own View and Edit permissions (existing access preserved). See Roles & Permissions.
Activity check-ins
- A forgotten check-out no longer blocks your later time entries. Checking in to a new activity now closes any session you left open on a previous one, releases it, and credits its time.
- No more duplicate open check-ins on a single activity, and the Edit Times overlap error now names the conflicting check-in so an admin can find and clear it.
1.23.0-beta — July 21, 2026
Event-calendar improvements, 24-hour time app-wide, new Archives permissions, and a faster app.
Event calendar
- Clicking a calendar slot pre-fills that date and time in the new-event form, instead of always opening at "now".
- The map pin is now the location. A pin dropped at a trailhead or staging area is no longer mislabelled with the nearest house address; the address field is now "Nearest Address" and optional once a pin is placed. Coordinates have a copy button for pasting into a phone or car GPS.
- Event coordinates now reach emails and Google Calendar, so notifications point at the exact pin rather than a re-geocoded address.
- Dragging an event no longer shifts its time, and a failed drag snaps back instead of leaving the block in the wrong place.
Everywhere
- 24-hour time on every date/time picker. Prefilled times now display in 24-hour format immediately — incident forms, activity log, Edit Times, notification quiet-hours, and more.
For agency administrators
- Google Calendar disconnects are now detected and reported. A revoked connection used to sit unnoticed; a daily check now disables sync and alerts your admins by in-app, email and push.
- New Archives permissions. The Deleted Members, Deleted/Archived Certifications and Archived Assets pages are now gated by their own permissions instead of being reachable by any member — and archived assets can now be restored to active inventory. See Roles & Permissions.
Behind the scenes
- A faster app. Removed a hidden per-request cost (a signed document URL was being generated on nearly every API call, adding seconds to large inventory lists), and the member edit page now loads in one round trip instead of two.
1.20.0-beta — July 8, 2026
Kit contents during asset creation.
- Add a kit's contents while creating it. Composite asset types — First Aid Kit, AED, Medical Bag, ALS/BLS Kit, Trauma Kit and Oxygen Kit — now let you fill in their contents (an AED's pads, battery and ready kit) right in the creation wizard, pre-filled from sensible defaults, instead of saving first and editing after.
- "Subcomponents" is now "Contents" throughout — the section is Contents and each entry is an Item — plainer language for the field.
1.19.0-beta — July 3, 2026
- Sign in with Google. Members can log in with their Google account instead of a password. It is login-only — your Google email must already belong to a Rescue Agency Manager account; there is no self-signup.
1.18.0-beta — July 3, 2026
- Google Calendar sync. Agency admins can connect the agency to Google Calendar under Agency Settings → System → Integrations. Scheduled events and activities are then mirrored to a Google calendar of your choice in real time — a one-way push, with RAM remaining the source of truth — so your whole team can see the schedule in Google. Pick any calendar you can write to (for example a shared "Agency Events" calendar) as the target.
1.17.0-beta — July 2, 2026
Log time you forgot, and correct recorded times.
- Log time for past activities you missed. In My Activities → Add Activity, the "From Scheduled Activity" tab now lists completed activities you were invited to but never logged, so you can record forgotten time. It pre-fills from the event; you confirm your actual times and miles.
- Editable check-in / check-out times on the Activity Sign-In Sheet, so managers can correct a mistimed entry.
- New agency setting Backlog Window controls how far back members can log (default 30 days).
1.16.0-beta — July 1, 2026
Smoother onboarding for new members.
- No more copy-pasting a temporary password. Clicking the invitation or verification link now verifies the account, logs the new member in automatically, and prompts them to set their own password before they enter the app.
- Clearer login errors. Logging in before verifying your email now says exactly that, instead of the misleading "Invalid credentials".
1.15.0-beta — June 30, 2026
A major overhaul of scheduled activities and check-in/check-out. See the new Activity Sign-In Sheet & Check-In Management guide for the full workflow.
Check-in methods
- New "QR or Manual" method, now the default. Activities can use QR Code, Manual, or QR or Manual check-in. On Manual / QR or Manual activities, members tap Check Me In in the app; QR-only activities still require a scan.
- Self check-in and check-out. Members get a Check Me In button at the top of an activity that becomes Check Me Out once they're on scene (Manual / QR or Manual only; hidden when the activity is completed).
Activity Sign-In Sheet (new tool)
- Run attendance from one screen. A renamed, expanded attendance page lets authorized members check people in per-person, check them out individually / in bulk / by force, and watch a live accountability (PAR) roster.
- Manual Check-In, reworked. Check in several members at once (multi-select with checkboxes), check in agency members, external members, or walk-in public attendees, and set an editable check-in time to back-date someone who forgot.
- No double check-ins. You can't check a member in for a time they were already checked in — the app blocks it and shows the conflict.
Safer activity lifecycle
- Activities won't complete while anyone's checked in. An ended activity stays Published until everyone has checked out (force a check-out for stragglers).
- Extending the end time reopens a completed activity so members can RSVP and check in again.
For agency administrators
- New permission: Activities — Manage Check-In and Check-Out. Gates checking other members in/out and opening the Activity Sign-In Sheet. Granted by default to Agency Admin, Training Manager, and Operations Manager. See Roles & Permissions.
1.5.1-beta — May 13, 2026
A cleanup-and-hardening pass on top of the 1.5.0-beta Roles release. Highlights below; see the Roles & Permissions guide for the current permission catalog.
Permission catalog changes
- Permissions retired. Ten orphan permissions — Membership — Promote Admin, Inventory — Audit, Inventory — Retire, Operations — Post-Incident Review, Alerts — View History, Docs — Publish, Docs — Archive, and all four Medical (Member) permissions — have been removed from the Roles page. Each was a name with no feature behind it; retiring them keeps the catalog honest. The Member Medical Manager role stays on the page as a placeholder for when that feature ships. Promoting an Agency Admin is done by assigning the locked Agency Admin role, not a separate permission. Asset retirement is the same action as Asset deletion — there is no separate retire workflow.
- Permissions added. Docs — Download and Docs — Print let you split file access from in-app viewing. With Docs — View alone, a member can read the document in the in-app viewer but can't download or print; the buttons disappear and the server refuses the download endpoint. (Honest caveat: this is a casual-copy deterrent, not DRM — see the doc.)
Document viewer
- Watermarked PDF viewing. When a member opens a PDF agency document in the in-app viewer, the file is now streamed through a server that stamps the viewer's email, agency, and UTC timestamp diagonally across every page in semi-transparent gray. Any screenshot or printed copy carries the viewer's identity.
Behind-the-scenes hardening
- Backend now enforces permissions the front-end was already checking. Ten permissions — Operations — Delete, Alerts — Edit / Delete, Alert Devices — Create / Delete, Inventory — Create, Animal Medical — View / Create / Delete, and Inventory — View Compliance — used to be enforced only in the UI (the button was hidden if you lacked the permission, but the API call would have succeeded). The API now refuses the request for users without the right role.
- Last-admin protection. RAM has always refused to demote the last Agency Admin, but two gaps slipped through: a member with the only admin role could still be deactivated, and the role-removal guard counted stale inactive-admin assignments. Both paths now correctly block — you'll always have at least one active admin.
- Workspace layout fixes. The Incident Workspace and RescueOpsMap pages were rendering inside the global Dashboard navbar — the page's own header and sidebar appeared crammed inside the agency-wide chrome. Both pages now render at full size as designed. Kiosk Mode on an incident also now properly hides the global navbar.
1.5.0-beta — May 11, 2026
A major access-control refresh: RAM now uses Roles to manage what members can see and do. Roles replace the old groups-and-permissions screen with a cleaner, agency-level workflow.
What's new for agency administrators
- Roles live under Agency Settings → Organization → Roles. Each agency starts with nine default roles — Agency Admin, Agency User (the starter role, automatically given to every member with view-only access to most of the app), Inventory Manager, Training Manager, Operations Manager, Membership Manager, Member Medical Manager, Animal Medical Manager, and Animal Manager — that bundle related permissions together so a real-world responsibility ("inventory lead", "training officer") is one click instead of a dozen checkboxes.
- Customize your roles. Click any role row to expand it; you'll see every permission it grants, organized by module (Inventory, Operations, Activities, Membership, etc.). Toggle checkboxes to fine-tune what the role allows; hover any permission for a plain-English description of what it does. Changes auto-save.
- Create your own roles. The Create Role button at the top of the page lets you build a custom role with your own name and description — useful for organization-specific responsibilities that don't fit the defaults.
- Assign multiple roles to a member. A member can hold as many roles as you want — their access is the combined total of everything those roles grant. From the role row, click Assign, pick the members, and they have the new access immediately.
- Agency Admin is special. Anyone assigned the Agency Admin role automatically becomes a full administrator of your agency — they have every permission, regardless of what other roles they're in. Removing the Agency Admin role demotes them. The role cannot be deleted, and we won't let you remove the last admin from your agency.
What's new for everyone
- Your profile shows your roles. The user profile modal has a new Access Roles card. Expand it to see every role you've been assigned; expand a role to see chips for each permission it grants. Hover any permission chip for a description of what it does. No-fuss visibility into "what can I do in RAM?".
- A consistent loader. The Roles page now shows the branded RAM logo loader, matching the rest of the app.
Why we changed it
The old system stored permissions on each user one at a time, with names like OPERATIONS_USER and INVENTORY_MANAGER that quietly bundled several different abilities behind a single flag. That made it impossible to grant "everything but checkout" or "audit view only" without engineering involvement. The new system breaks every ability into its own checkbox — things like Inventory — View, Inventory — Checkout, and Operations — Close — so you can build any access pattern by combining them inside a role. Roles are the day-to-day concept; the individual permissions are the building blocks underneath.
For full details on the new system, see the Roles & Permissions guide.
1.4.0-beta — May 10, 2026
A large pass focused on Asset Management — a brand-new Compliance dashboard, a universal Log Book on every asset, a redesigned Inventory page, and a lighter, more consistent UI across activities and certifications.
Asset Management
- Compliance dashboard. New page under Assets → Compliance with five KPI cards (Overdue / Due in 30 days / Due in 90 days / On Track / No Schedule), a filter bar (Status / Asset Type / Capability / Search), and a sortable grid that surfaces the most-urgent items first. Export the filtered set to CSV with one click. Recurring inspection and maintenance cadence is covered now; registration / insurance / warranty / lifecycle expiration roll in next.
- Log Book on every asset. New universal Log Book section on every asset's edit and view page — the audit-ready record of what's been done. Capture inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, calibrations, cleaning, service, overhauls, and replacements with a structured form (type, date, performed by, result, description, findings, parts replaced, costs, next-due date, attached document). The form labels and date fields adapt to the entry type, and saving an Inspection entry correctly updates the asset's next-inspection date while maintenance entries update the next-maintenance-due date — Cleaning and Other are record-only.
- Inspections-only filter, full filter bar, and per-row Print. The Log History table includes a Type / Result / Date-range filter bar so audit responses ("show me failed inspections in Q1") are a 30-second answer. Every entry has a Print icon that opens a self-contained inspection or maintenance record you can save as PDF — agency header, asset block, inspection details, free-text fields, costs, attached document, signature lines.
- "Agency Assets" is now "Inventory". The left-menu sub-item under Assets is renamed because Compliance is now a sibling — the page title reads Asset Inventory, breadcrumbs and back-links read "Inventory".
- Asset thumbnails on Inventory and Compliance. Every grid row now shows a 36px thumbnail to the left of the asset name — the uploaded asset image when present, or a per-category icon (vehicle, aircraft, watercraft, trailer, rescue equipment, communication, medical, tools, other) when not. Hover an image-bearing thumbnail for a 240px preview.
- Asset assignment is now a right slide-out drawer. The assign action opens a 520px right-anchored drawer (full-width on mobile) instead of a centered modal. Three behavior improvements while we were in there:
- Storage Location dropdown shows the full hierarchy path (e.g.
🏢 HQ / 🚪 Bay 1 / 🗄 Section A / 📦 Bin 3). - Vehicle assignment is renamed to Mobile and now expands to show every level under each mobile asset, so you can deploy to a specific bin inside a vehicle, not just the vehicle root.
- A latent bug where Storage Location assignments to facility / area / bin levels weren't being persisted to the right field is fixed.
- Storage Location dropdown shows the full hierarchy path (e.g.
- Current Location folded into Identity on AssetView. The standalone "Current Location" left-rail section on the asset view is gone — current location, assigned-since, and reason now sit as a bordered block at the bottom of the Identity section.
- Usage logs flipped on for 31 more asset types by default — trailers, rope-rigging hardware (harnesses, carabiners, pulleys, descenders, ascenders, anchor hardware, edge protection, webbing), helmets, life-safety PPE (PFDs, dry suits, turnout gear, avalanche beacons/airbags), high-value optics, patient-contact medical equipment, body cameras, fire ops nozzles and foam systems. New agencies inherit the new defaults; existing agencies have the same updates applied automatically. Per-asset overrides still let admins opt any specific asset out.
Activities
- Activity Detail is now a right slide-out drawer. Click an activity in My Activities and it opens in a 720px right-anchored drawer (full-width on mobile). The previous modal/drawer toggle is gone — the drawer is the canonical detail view. Edit and Delete are now icon buttons in the top-right of the sticky header (matching the certificate detail pattern); Validate and Reject stay as full buttons in the Validation Status bar.
- Add / Edit Activity form widened with a 2-column layout. Was a skinny single-column modal. Now ~900px wide with related fields paired side-by-side at typical screen widths: Start Time / End Time, Hours Logged / Miles Traveled, Location Name / Location Address. Title, Description, Notes, and Reason for Edit stay full-width.
Certifications
- Certificate detail is now a right slide-out drawer. Click a row on Team Certifications or My Certifications and it opens in a 600px right-anchored drawer. Edit and Delete are icon buttons in the top-right of the sticky header (visible to record owners and admins).
UI polish
- Lightweight page headers on Asset Inventory, Asset Compliance, My Certifications, My Activities, Team Certifications, and Record Template Management — a clean title + subtitle + actions row. The previous gradient banners with decorative circles are gone.
- Tinted modal and drawer fields. Editable inputs now render white against the soft paper background so they pop, while disabled / read-only fields render grey so "locked" reads at a glance.
- DataGrid focus outline on click-row finally works correctly on every grid in the app.
1.3.0-beta — April 25, 2026
This release introduces an in-app feedback widget for beta-program agencies and a small login-stability fix for everyone.
What's new for everyone
- Submitting a feature suggestion now reliably notifies our team. Previously, enhancement-request submissions could land in the system without alerting RAM staff in some cases. They now follow the same notification path as bug reports — every submission emails the team and shows up in the Admin notification queue.
- Tax-Exempt ID (EIN) is now unique per agency. When an agency administrator saves an EIN that's already in use by another active agency, RAM now blocks the save with a clear error message and suggests contacting support. Two distinct agencies can no longer accidentally end up sharing the same EIN. See the Tax Exemption Status section of the Agency Profile guide for the full rules.
- Several smaller polish fixes: the chat panel and notification panel can no longer end up open at the same time; the Release Notes / New Feature Updates tabs now correctly clear the unread indicator after you click "Mark as Read".
What's new if you're in the beta program
If your agency is on the beta plan, you'll see a new floating feedback button in the bottom-right corner of every page. Tap it to:
- Report a bug — same form as before, but submissions are auto-tagged so we can prioritize beta feedback.
- Suggest an improvement — sends an enhancement request directly to our roadmap.
- Share feedback — quick free-form text plus an optional 1-5 star rating for casual thoughts that don't fit a bug or feature request.
- Rate RAM — 0-10 NPS-style rating with an optional "why?" follow-up.
If the floating button gets in your way, you can hide it from User Settings → Beta Feedback → Hide feedback widget. Re-enable it any time from the same toggle.
1.2.0-beta — April 23, 2026
This release focuses on account security and the foundations for ongoing release communication.
What's new for everyone
-
Smarter login security. Your account is now automatically protected against brute-force login attempts:
- As you approach 5 failed password attempts, the login screen shows how many attempts you have left before your account is temporarily locked.
- After 5 failed attempts, the account is locked for 15 minutes. Waiting 15 minutes automatically unlocks it.
-
Notification center now sorts release notes and feature updates separately. Open the bell icon in the top-right and you'll find dedicated tabs for Release Notes and New Feature Updates so you can find the right type of message at a glance.
